March 10, 2015

JohnCape Town, South Africa—In January 2015, the Next Generation Social Sciences Program partnered with the University of the Western Cape's Center for Humanities Research to host fellows working on dissertation proposals. The workshop featured a series of lectures from leading researchers in South Africa, each proposing means of charting new avenues to identify important research problems.

Professor John Comaroff delivered a remarkable lecture touching on topics including the waning concept of the common good, the commodification of ethnicity, and sociological understandings of criminology in Cape Town and Ferguson. We invite you to visit our Spotlight gallery, where an audio file of Professor Comaroff's lecture is available. You can find the lecture here.
