Next Gen Fellow Receives the Brown International Advance Research Institute Scholarhip

Ibadan, Nigeria— Emeka Njoku, a 2014-2015 Proposal Fellow and 2015-2016 Research Fellow of the Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa program, has published a chapter in the forthcoming Palgrave Handbook of Global Counterterrorism Policy. His work, entitled “’Laws for Sale:’ The Domestication of Counterterrorism Policies and Its Impact in Nigeria” examines the effects of Counter-Terrorism Measures on the capacity of Civil Society Organisations as a check on the Nigerian state.

Emeka Njoku has also received the Brown International Advance Research Institute Scholarship, which will allow him to attend a two-week workshop at Brown University. The Brown University International Advanced Research Institute convenes early-career participants from around the world to address pressing global issues through collaboration across academic, professional, and geographic boundaries. This will be Emeka’s first trip to the United States.
