Next Gen Fellow will serve as discussant at 8th Thabo Mbeki Africa Day Lecture

Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa alumna Dr. Siphokazi Magadla will serve as a discussant for Professor Mahmood Mamdani's lecture at the 8th Thabo Mbeki Africa Day at the University of South Africa (UNISA) in Pretoria on 26 May 2017.

Dr. Siphokazi Magadla received the Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa Research Fellowship in 2013 to carry out research on female ex-combatants. You can learn more about her project here. She graduated from the University of South Africa in April 2017 and was awarded a full-time position as a lecturer in her department, where she will continue to undertake research, publish, and mentor masters and PhD students.

Professor Mahmood Mamdani is the Herbert Lehman Professor of Government at Columbia University and Director of the Makerere Institute for Social Research at Makerere University.
